DORNIER offers customized solutions for the efficient production of such films for capacitors, lithium-ion batteries and photovoltaic systems

At Chinaplas 2025 (April 15 – 18, Hall 10, Stand W41), the family-owned Lindauer DORNIER will be presenting innovative solutions for more efficient film production. In addition to customized lines for the increasing demand of technical film, the focus will be on the opening of the new service location in Huzhou, China, concentrating on clip revision.

Since film stretching lines from DORNIER can have a service life of more than 50 years, servicing existing lines is a central pillar for the family-owned company. In addition to the supply of original spare parts, the range of services also includes modernizations to improve the energy efficiency of older lines and conversions to adapt to modern and future production requirements. This is why at Chinaplas, the focus for the machine and plant manufacturer is on the opening of a new local service and spare parts business.

Opening of the new service location in Huzhou
With the founding of the new company DORNIER Machinery (Huzhou) Co. Ltd., DORNIER is pursuing a customer-oriented service strategy. The up to 2,800 clips installed in the film stretching lines, which are up to 150 meters long, require an overhaul after years of uninterrupted operation. This is why the new branch in Huzhou, which will open at the end of the year, will enable professional overhauls to DORNIER standards – made in Germany. After maintenance, the clips achieve the quality of new original parts. The Chinese employees get an intensive training by German experts to ensure maximum precision and quality. Local maintenance considerably shortens the downtimes of the lines, significantly increasing their production output and efficiency. The new workshop underlines DORNIER's commitment to expanding its service business in China in order to provide local customers with reliable and fast support.

DORNIER increases production efficiency with targeted modifications
Through continuous further developments in film stretching technology, DORNIER enables the sustainable optimization of existing lines. A comprehensive analysis of production processes identifies potential for increasing performance, energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Customized modifications – from improved control systems to new components – reduce operating costs, increase product quality and extend the service life of the lines.

In order to demonstrate these improvements in practice, DORNIER has set up a partial line for demonstrations at its plant in Esseratsweiler. Customers have the opportunity to get to know these modifications in detail either on site or virtually.

One highlight of these further developments is the new HX 9 clip, which offers increased production flexibility. Thanks to the innovative design with a one-piece clip body, film return is significantly reduced and system availability is increased. Another advantage: as the chain link is built directly into the clip, oil contamination at the edges of the film is practically impossible. This makes the HX 9 clip – also due to the minimal film return – particularly suitable for applications with highest purity requirements. Thanks to its simple integration into existing chain rail lines, the HX 9 clip can be retrofitted quickly and efficiently. “The combination of targeted modifications and the new HX 9 clip gives our customers the opportunity to raise their lines to a new level of efficiency,” explains Robert Heger, Head of Product Line Film Stretching Lines China at DORNIER. “With this solution, we offer a significant increase in production output and reliability – a real competitive advantage in film production.”
